Blu-ray players have come down a significant amount, you can now buy one for a little under a $100. Nice!
(note: Gotta be a little careful here. Going cheap may cause you to lose out on the cool features that Blu-rays offer. No worries, we’ll cover that too

Next, what about your DVD library.
No problem. You should be able to play any and all of your favorite DVDs on Blu-ray. In fact, you can also play CDs too.
A number of folks feel that Blu-ray will replace DVDs over time. This may be true.

- The two formats will most likely co-exist for the time being. DVDs demise may come when more and more folks are buying HDTVs.

- DVDs, for the most part, support SD (standard-definition) and don’t support the storage capability needed for HD (high-definition). Blu-rays offer up a walloping 50GB of storage good for playback, recording, and rewriting HD in just about any resolution including the high-end resolution of 1080p.
- Blu-ray format will give you high-definition audio along with lossless audio.
- And one more thing about that “extra storage capacity”. Blu-ray will take all those nifty special features, graphics, along with the menus to a place where you, the viewer, have never gone before.Imagine this. You’re watching a movie. You’re interested in seeing what the director was thinking. All you do is call up that “over-lay” and you can listen to the director describe the scene while your watching the scene in the movie…at the same time. Pretty awesome.

- At this time, Bluray provides the best quality picture on your high-def TV.
- Bluray players can provide the awesome “surround” sound audio. Just like a movie theater. Of course, you’ll need the right sep-up of speakers.

- There are a plethora of services available for streaming your favorite TV shows and movies over the internet.And get this, you “don’t need” to have a TV that is internet ready. The Bluray player that has internet streaming will take care of the cyber connection.
- If the Bluray player has internet ability, it will most likely also have wi-fi. So you can enjoy watching quality TV anywhere within your home from the attic-converted-to-theater-room to a cellar-converted-to-theater-room.
- Like the famous words from Star Trek, “Engage!” That’s exactly what it will feel like when you warp yourself into 3D with a 3D Blu-ray player hooked up to your new 3D TV.
